Policies and Partnership Guidelines
Policy statement

LfL works with regional partners in Afghanistan, India and Pakistan, assisting partners in providing educational services to children up to the age of 18. We support the development of innovative curricula, programmes that increase enrolment of children - particularly girls in rural areas - in education, health and civic education and vocational training. We support programmes of advocacy that align with LfL’s own policy of advocacy, and in order to assure quality, we also support teacher-training programmes. We only work with parents insofar as they are involved in their children’s literacy.

New Partnership Guidelines:

1. LfL works with regional partners in the field.

2. Potential partners will be required to complete an LfL proposal form, complete with budget and LFA. Should the proposal fall within the guidelines, an LfL staff member will conduct a field visit prior to signing an MOU with new partners.

3. A signed MOU will be the result of any partnership.

4. LfL will only work with religious organisations provided they demonstrate concrete and verifiable evidence of being interfaith or secular in their work and the communities they serve.

5. All partners will share information, resources and expertise.

6. LfL will write grants and help partners to acquire funding. All writing will be a collaborative process.

7. LfL is responsible for developing and maintaining the monitoring and evaluation process for all projects. Partners will be responsible for conducting evaluation and monitoring activities with LfL’s assistance from the start to the conclusion of each project.

8. All aims, outcomes, inputs, sustainability and indicators will be agreed upon mutually by LfL and their partners.

9. Grant renewals will be done by mutual agreement, if feasible to continue.

10. LfL is not solely a donor; we are active participants in projects and will intend to share data from each project nationally and internationally. Any products including syllabi, reports, pedagogical models, created during the lifetime of a project, will be considered part of the deliverables due LfL.
