Our Projects
Emergency Response
Learning for Life’s Emergency Relief project exists to provide immediate aid to communities in crisis. We have supported communities affected by earthquakes, floods and the Covid-19 pandemic.
Early Years Education
This project aims to improve primary school enrolment and education outcomes for 357 children in Sadar Upaziila, Cox’s Bazar. By preparing infants for school through the provision of playgroups, preschool classes and guidance and support for their parents.
Dan Doherty Memorial School
Thanks to generous contributions from family and friends of Dan Doherty, our late Trustee, the "Dan Doherty Memorial School" was established. The school now provides catch-up education for vulnerable children and serves as a community centre with a library, multipurpose hall, and resources for health and rights education.
Covid Recovery
This project in the river basin area of Nikli, Bangladesh, aimed to re-enrol 4,602 children, especially girls, back into school post-COVID-19 through awareness campaigns, catch-up classes, and online learning, while also providing hygiene training and promoting the rights of women and girls.
Floating Schools
The Floating School Project addresses severe educational barriers during flood seasons by utilising boats as classrooms and healthcare clinics. These innovative Floating Schools navigate flooded villages, delivering essential education to children and adolescents who would otherwise be cut off from schooling.
Covid-19 Emergency Relief
The Covid-19 lockdowns threatened the livelihoods of impoverished communities in Kishoreganj, Bangladesh, forcing families to choose between going to work and risking Covid-19 exposure or staying home and facing hunger. In response, LfL provided 30-day food parcels and hygiene packages, enabling families to adhere to lockdown restrictions and stay safe.
Guernsey Supplementary Education Centre
LfL reconstructed one of our schools damaged in a major earthquake to create an earthquake-resistant Supplementary Education Centre featuring classrooms, a library, a community hall, and comprehensive facilities to serve as both an educational and community resource, ensuring long-term support and disaster preparedness.
